"Knowledge is twofold: when you travel, you discover things both outside and inside yourself, through your solitude."

Graciela Iturbide

The Cape

I visited Cape Cod for the first time in the summer of 2018, a year after I moved to America.

I have been going back there ever since.

These random visits were crucial to my understanding of the new country and to the process of cultural apprehension.

The vastness and the proximity of the ocean, through which I have been yearning for the past life, made me feel closer to home.

The landscapes I experienced there stayed with me, transformed me, and became part of my new internal topography in the adopted homeland.

Breathing the air, pine-scented, saturated with salt and walking the sandy beaches healed my longing fleetingly.

With time, the sense of belonging evolved.

The work was made over the years during the sporadic lone wanderings in Cape Cod, MA.
